UPDATE: I have confirmation from the media in Japan that this is not an optical illusion on the TBS camera. Reactor 4 is indeed leaning over.
I also received a secondary confirmation from staff at the plant via a media source that this is true, reactor 4 is leaning. They have a construction
crew contracted to help shore up the building but no word if they have started work or not.

Reactor 4 may be leaning and falling over. Look at the image below. I was alerted to this by someone who read a post on Physics Forum
talking about the oddness in the TBS live cam image. I grabbed a copy and put some vertical lines and #4 is indeed off vertical to the right.
The other objects appear to be fully upright. Either this is quite the optical illusion or 4 is falling over with a load of fresh fuel in the spent fuel pool.

May 7th updated screen shot of reactor 4.

Image of the crane movement from 5.7 (CST, 5.8 JST). The crane is further
left and inserted into the building at the work floor level. It has previously
been more centered and spraying from the ceiling level down in.

Some new images of reactor 4 from May 6.

Then there was this bit of distressing news, if it is true. On Physics Forum post 5941

**UPDATE** besides the smoke show there appeared to be some steam coming out of reactor 1 overnight.
No word on release levels or the cause of last night's show. There was a statement put out that the air lock
doors were opened yesterday and a claim there was no significant release. That can be confirmed by watching
the independent radiation monitoring for the following 24 hours.

According to the post below they are anticipating the possibility of a considerable radiation release on May 8th.
If this is true the two pieces of news together are very concerning. I hope I am wrong.

***The release on the 8th may be the opening of the airlock on #1***

"Long time lurker here. I enjoy the open discourse. I haven't really had anything to contribute until now. My partner who is Japanese brought this blog post to my attention. It is from Taro Kono, who is in the house of representatives (LDP, opposition to current government):

http://www.taro.org/2011/05/post-996.php

In particular this section:

Translation (non-literal and our understanding):

I received 3 emails with attachments from junior government officials in the energy department.

The first email:
Minutes of meeting between TEPCO and the government on the 1st May.
"If the current situation continues, high density radiation will be released on the 8th May."
"Mr Hosono said: It is very important to go to the next step regarding the installation of the heat exchanger machine. For the concerned parties, be careful of the sharing of information with high sensitivity so that the same mistakes aren't made again like the release of the radiated water previously.

The second and third emails aren't related so we didn't translate it. It isn't clear from the text the way the radiation will be released. ie airborne or via water.

The aforementioned energy department English homepage is this:

Perhaps those who are following the work and/or parameters of the reactors could hypothesise what they are thinking about doing.
